The First Christmas

I put some of my thoughts about this first Christmas Day without her into another poem:

The First Christmas

I hope that you are proud of me, I had a happy day.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time, watching our kids play.
Being Santa by myself, felt so strange this year.
I wrapped the presents on my own, wishing you were here.
Christmas Eve was not the same, we'd stay up half the night
Getting ready, feeling worn out, trying not to fight.
Your female touch was missing, I did the best I could.
Though things were far from perfect, I hope you've understood.
I've had a merry Christmas, but cried a tear or two,
This day will never be the same, as long as there's no you.
