The Plea

The Plea

Here is a new poem I've written, based on the Savior's words found in D&C 19, including His injunction to repent, and a description of the suffering He encountered and endured in Gethsemane. How grateful I am for His Atonement and the gift of repentance He offers me. With His stripes, I can be healed, and my sins, though scarlet, can become as white as snow. Hallelujah!

The Plea

I plead with you to leave your sins behind
Be spared from suffering, exquisite, sore
For deeply have I suffered for mankind
That you might be forgiven evermore
Though God, I trembled greatly, wracked with pain
From every pore, my blood did freely flow
I drank the bitter cup as foreordained
That through me Father's glory I might show
Forsake your sins again I do command
Lest you must suffer as I did that night
Lest you be humbled by my mighty hand
Come follow me, find favor in my sight
