Our time here on earth is not our beginning, for we have a rich and glorious past and heritage. We are children of the most high God. He loves us and has a plan for our eternal happiness. Our poem is about that plan, and the path to immortality and eternal life forged by our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Though we presently cannot remember, may we never forget that our agency came at a price. May we honor the valiant and noble defense of our agency, led by Jehovah, and supported by each of us. If we continue down this path we chose in the premortal realm, it will lead us to our destiny, eternal glory, and everlasting joy.
The Path
Ages ago, before the earth, we lived with God above.
We talked with Him and saw His face, and felt His boundless love.
Our Father was superior, a perfect Holy man.
With flesh and bone and omniscience, all things at His command.
Desiring to help us grow, and be perfected too,
A council He convened at large, to share what we must do.
To try us we would go away, upon a distant earth.
A mortal frame of flesh and blood, we'd gain through precious birth.
Our mem'ries would be left behind, that faith might guide our path.
To see if we would do all things, to gain that which He hath.
Our Father knew we'd make mistakes, and lose our way through sin.
And so a Savior He'd provide, to help us back to Him.
“Who can I send to do my will? And help fulfill my plan?”
Jehovah said, “Thy will be done. Send me to redeem man.
With agency, though all will not, decide to follow me,
A sacrifice I'll make for all, and give to thee glory.”
And then another voice was heard, a being of great light.
The one we then called Lucifer, claimed he knew what was right.
“All men shall be redeemed through me, and I shall earn the fame.
I have a plan superior, send me,” he then exclaimed.
“The first is who I choose to send,” our Father then declared.
The second rose up and rebelled, that all might be ensnared.
And so a war of words ensued, which plan would then prevail?
Two-thirds stood by our Father dear, though even they might fail.
Their agency they would retain, they'd let Jehovah lead.
And with His aid they did believe, they'd in the end succeed.
And so a third chose Lucifer and listened to his lies.
And with him they were then cast out, to never claim the prize.
The war begun so long ago continues here today.
Let us maintain our faith in Christ, and let Him show the way.
