Here’s a poem I wrote about the history and restoration of the priesthood. We are so blessed to have it in our day!
Priesthood
Melchizedek was given tithes, from Father Abraham.
The Levites did administer, the law Moses gave them.
And in the days of Christ our Lord, a mighty voice declared,
"Repent all men and be baptized, that you may be prepared."
And unto Peter, James, and John, our Lord bestowed the keys,
That after He ascended up, His work would not then cease.
And then the night of darkness came when priesthood was not found,
Until the truth could be restored, once more on fertile ground.
Till in our day did Joseph pray, that he might understand,
How he should baptize properly to follow God's commands.
Then, John, the Baptist did appear, to him and Oliver,
Said He, "The priesthood of Aaron, upon you I confer."
And Peter, James, and John did come, that they might too restore,
The priesthood of Melchizedek, upon the earth once more.
How blessed we are in these last days, to know our Father's plan,
And have the priesthood here again, to minister to man.
