Here I Dwell Far From My Father

Here I Dwell Far From My Father

In the vein of "O My Father," "If You Could Hie to Kolob" and "I Am a Child of God" we penned our own hymn of longing for our first home. We wrote the words to the tune of "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing." May they help you remember who you truly are, why you are here, and where you are trying to go.

Here I Dwell Far From My Father

Here I dwell far from my Father, on this distant earthly sphere.
Longing ever, to return home, to my Mother, I love dear.
How I miss the matchless beauty, of my home's glorious shores.
Where upon Their thrones majestic, They do reign forevermore.

Now I've come to this far region, with my mem'ries left behind.
Faith must now direct my actions, with this veil upon my mind.
Til the day when my Redeemer, touches my unworthy head,
And restores my missing knowledge, of all I have done and said.

Until then, I'll keep on striving, to do all my Lord commands.
Til I reach my destination, on my home's celestial sands.
But for now, here I a stranger, on this foreign world must roam.
Far across the great expanses, from my heavenly true home.

Oh dear parents in the heavens, watch o'er me from high above.
May I know my royal lineage, and partake of your great love.
Though for now we're separated, through the Spirit you are near.
Wait for my return dear parents, for the day when I leave here.
