Counsel

Here’s a poem reflecting our thoughts on the October, 2018, General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which included the major announcement of a shorter, two-hour block of weekly meetings, and President Nelson’s urging to use the true name of the Church, avoiding the use of nicknames and acronyms.

Counsel

Oh, what a weekend it has been, to hear a prophet's voice
To take a step back from the world, with all its din and noise
The hours may have changed at church, reduced from three to two
Which means that more's required of us, we have much work to do
We'll study in our families, as sacred truths we'll search
A gospel centered in our homes, supported by the Church
It is The Church of Jesus Christ, restored in these last days
And Latter-day Saints we are called, as we take on His name
We're grateful for our prophet dear, who helped us to recall,
The Church doth bear the name of Him, who sacrificed for all
Oh, may we heed the counsel from, the Lord's anointed one,
As we commit to God anew, to follow Christ, His Son
