The Young Man
"Life is too hard," the young man thought. "How can I carry on?
The path ahead is far too steep, I fear my strength is gone.
I'm filled with stress, I'm filled with doubt, I feel such great despair.
And no one understands my plight, there is no one that cares."
A quiet thought then came to him, "There is yet still a way.
Seek out the will of God for you, get on your knees and pray."
He had not prayed in such a while when everything was fine.
When life was smooth, without a hitch, God was not on his mind.
Would God still listen to his pleas? Did His love still apply?
Or had he dug a hole so deep, God would not hear his cries?
The young man thought, "What can it hurt? Perhaps He'll hear my pleas."
And so to test this premise out, he got down on his knees.
"Oh Father now please hear my prayer, my life's in disarray.
I've come before Thee, seeking help, please guide my path this day.
I'm sorry it has been so long since I communed with Thee.
I seek forgiveness for my sins. May mercy set me free.
I can't continue on like this. I feel so all alone.
I need Thy help, and strength, and love. I'm failing on my own.
Unto me now, please show the way. Help me find light again.
This is my urgent prayer to Thee, in Thy Son’s name, amen."
And then for him, an answer came, a message from above.
He felt the Spirit of the Lord. It filled his heart with love.
He did not then know everything, as light began to shine.
But this he knew without a doubt: With God, life would be fine!
So if you're feeling down and out, and life seems rather blue
Get on your knees and pray to God, and He'll be there for you.
