The Night the Drought Ended

The Night the Drought Ended

So excited to be a BYU Cougar fan tonight. After 9 long years, BYU finally beat Utah. Of course, I had to write a new poem to commemorate the occasion!

The Night the Drought Ended

As rain descended on the field, it felt like happy tears
The drought was nearly at an end, a dozen forlorn years
The fans had waited for so long, their faces showed a grin
Anticipating victory, at last, a Cougar win
They held their breaths yet anxiously, each play still so impressed
Still cheering on their BYU and hoping for the best
Till Jaren took a final knee, the game was out of time
The stadium erupted then, with ecstasy sublime
The fans did rise and they did shout - a Cougar victory
Kalani and his team had won, the Cougs made history
For every diehard Cougar fan, with blood that runs bright blue
Remember 2021, the year our hopes came true
