Invitation

Invitation

When Mary carried our dear Lord, no one gave her a bed.
"There is no room, we are too full," regretfully they said.
Christ went into the wilderness, that He might fast and pray.
He bore His burden all alone, for forty nights and days.
He suffered in Gethsemane, a sacrifice so great.
He pleaded with His followers, "Oh please now stay awake.
My burden is so heavy now, I need you here with me."
Yet their support, they could not give, continuing to sleep.
And so with us, our Lord still knocks, "Please open up your door."
Do we impart to Him our hearts, as humbly He implores?
Or do we leave Him all alone, too proud to join His cause?
Caught up in sinful, worldly ways, and seeking men's applause?
Oh, may we stay nearby His side, and leave Him not alone.
And always keep Him in our hearts, that He may guide us home.
