A Light Within the Darkness

A Light Within the Darkness

Although in Bethlehem I cannot be
To witness the arrival of a king
Although angelic hosts I cannot see
Nor can I hear their songs of welcoming
Yet I can be touched by this babe's sweet birth
Condescending to this mortal state
Among mere sinners here on fallen earth
To impact and influence mankind's fate
Though two millennia have come and gone
His life and words live on in memory
The miracles of this babe carry on
To lift me up though broken I may be
As winter darkness grows and snows descend
Unto the Christ child fair may I draw near
And share and spread His light with fellow men
Preparing for this king to reappear
