A Father’s Love

Having shared two poems about heaven's and Mary's perspectives on Christ's suffering, I am sharing a third poem I wrote. This one is from the perspective of our Heavenly Father. Oh, how I love them both for the deep and eternal love they have shown us all.

A Father’s Love

He steeled Himself, preparing for the hour,
Communicated love unto His Son
Assured Him this task lie within His power,
Reminded Him He was the Chosen One.
The plan He'd orchestrated for His kin,
Would be advanced there in Gethsemane,
As His Beloved overcame all sin,
And paid the price that all men might be free.
And in that hour when darkness deep did reign,
When Christ our Lord cried out in deep despair,
“Oh Papa please release me from this pain!”
Our Father did remove His presence there,
That Christ might be acquainted with our grief,
To know the separation sin doth bring.
Christ suffered by Himself without relief.
The Greatest did descend below all things.
His heart did break as He did leave His Son,
Forsaking Him, that mercy might win out.
Yet in the end as all He'd planned was won,
With tear-filled eyes He proudly raised a shout.
Then once again His Spirit did commune.
Upon His Son He showered Him with praise,
As in His heart he sang a vict'ry tune,
Rejoicing for this family He'd raised.
